Grove, Starlins, Patron take game

BALTIMORE, Md. – No. 8 Johns Hopkins did not drop a game in doubles play to key a 9-0 Centennial Conference (CC) women's tennis victory over McDaniel on Wednesday.

Carissa Grove (Boonsboro, Md./St. Maria Gorretti), Brittany Starlings (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) and Kiersten Patron (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) led the Green Terror (6-10, 0-8 CC) with a single game won.

Grove dropped her No. 1 singles match to Abby Clark 6-0, 6-1 while Kaitlin Pfisterer downed Starlings 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Kaitlyn Coleman defeated Patron 6-1, 6-0 at fourth singles.

Courtney Boger, Andrea Berlinghof and Carolyn Drogt led the Blue Jays (9-4, 6-0 CC), not dropping a game in the process of 2-0 days.

Berlinghof and Drogt combined for an 8-0 win at second doubles before Berlinghof took third singles 6-0, 6-0 and Drogt won sixth singles by the same score.

Boger teamed with Pfisterer for an 8-0 win at first doubles before winning No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Muhlenberg on Sunday. Match time is 12 p.m.
