Arnold wins five games

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Swarthmore won five of the six singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores to key a 9-0 victory over McDaniel in the Centennial Conference (CC) women's tennis opener on Saturday.

Nicole Arnold (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) led the Green Terror (1-6, 0-1 CC), winning three games in singles play and two in doubles play.

Lia Carlson and Alli Wong each went 2-0 for the Garnet (1-5, 1-0 CC) without dropping a game. The duo teamed for an 8-0 win at first doubles before Carlson won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Wong was victorious by the same score at No. 2 singles.

Arnold teamed with Danielle Cloney (Severna Park, Md.) in the 8-2 loss at third doubles. Arnold dropped her No. 4 singles match, 6-2, 6-1.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Gettysburg on Wednesday. Match time is 4 p.m.
