Kaler, Allen-Gorman notch wins to open season
CARLISLE, Pa. – Chloe Allen-Gorman (Portland, Ore./Lincoln) made her collegiate debut with a pair of victories, leading McDaniel to a fourth-place finish at the DuCharme Invitational hosted by Dickinson in season-opening women's indoor track and field action on Saturday.
The Green Terror amassed 79.5 points at the 10-team invitational. The host Red Devils won the meet with 189 points.
Allen-Gorman debuted at ninth-place on the all-time performers' list with her victory in the 1,000 meters, running a time of 3:24.72.
Allen-Gorman also anchored the 4x800-meter relay to victory with a combined time of 10:31.70. Allen-Gorman joined Becky Kaler (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick), Jasmine McCormick (Antioch, Calif./Holy Name) and Claire Lawson (McMinnville, Ore./McMinnville) to run the 10th fastest time in program history.
Kaler rounded out a trio of victories for McDaniel, winning the 3,000 meters in a time of 11:22.67.
McCormick led 12 Centennial Conference (CC)-qualifying marks in the first meet of the year, reaching the standard in three events.
McCormick was eighth in the 55 hurdles, running a time of 9.57 seconds in the prelims before notching a time of 9.56 in the finals to move into third place on the all-time performer list. It was also the ninth-best performance all-time.
In the field, McCormick tied for third in the high jump, clearing 1.42 meters, which is eighth on the all-time list. She was also ninth in the shot put with a throw of 9.01 meters to move into the all-time top 10.
Lawson added a conference qualifier in the 55 hurdles, finishing 13th in a time of 10.04 seconds. She was also 18th in the high jump, clearing 1.22 meters.
Stillings hit the CC standard in the 55, finishing 16th in a time of 8.13 seconds.
Ecker hit the CC marks in the triple jump (sixth place, 9.69 meters), pole vault (T-10th, 2.44) and long jump (12th, 4.46). Her marks all put her in the top 10 on the Green Terror's all-time lists. The pole vault jump is fifth. The triple jump is sixth. The long jump is eighth.
Kloe Matin (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) was tied for third in the high jump, clearing 1.42 meters to debut in eighth place on the all-time list and hit the conference qualifier.
Tineria Thomas (Baltimore, Md./Western) added hit a pair of marks in her three events. She was third in the triple jump with a CC-qualifying jump of 9.80 meters, which is fifth all-time. She was 15th in the 55 meters, crossing in a CC-qualifying time of 8.12 seconds. She was also 16th in the long jump (4.28 meters).
Kelsey Dickman (Abington, Md./Bel Air) rounded out the CC qualifiers, finishing third in the shot put with a throw of 10.83 meters.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Hagerstown Invitational on Saturday.
