Dickman takes medal to lead McDaniel

Green Terror finishes ninth at CC Championship

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Kelsey Dickman (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) earned a bronze medal, finishing third in the shot put with a toss of 11.38 meters to lead McDaniel at the 2010 Centennial Conference women's outdoor track and field championship hosted by Swarthmore on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Green Terror amassed 11 points, finishing ninth in the 10-team field. Johns Hopkins took its first outdoor track and field team title with 190 points, edging second-place Haverford by five points.

Dickman and Johns Hopkins' Krystina Laucik tied for third place in the shot put, both hurling a toss of 11.38 meters for their best efforts but Dickman was awarded the bronze medal when comparing the next best throw by each athlete. Dickman bettered Laucik 11.17-11.13.

Dickman also finished eighth in Saturday's discus with a toss of 30.02 meters.

Heidi Davidhizar (Westminster, Md./South Range (Ohio)) added a sixth-place showing heptathlon with 3,195 points. Her best showing of the seven events came with second-place finishes in both the 100 hurdles (16.75 seconds) and javelin (26.30 meters).

Davidhizar just missed the 100 hurdles finals with a ninth-place time of 17.29 seconds.

Katherine Restrepo (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) also just missed Sunday's finals, turning in a time of 1:01.75 in Saturday's 400 preliminaries to finish ninth.

Restrepo joined Roxanne Fleischer (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill), Hilary Hanus (Hockessin, Del./Cab Calloway School of the Arts) and Missy Black (West Grove, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) with a time of 10:09.70 in the 4x800-meter relay, finishing eighth in the final event on Saturday with the third-best time in program history.

Fleischer was also 14th in the 1,500 with a time of 5:03.37.

Emily Peoples (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) crossed 21st in the 1,500 (5:09.28) and 5,000 (20:25.28).

Kelsey Hetrick (Hanover, Pa./South Western) and Dickman rounded out the McDaniel competitors with finishes of 19th (24.69 meters) and 21st (23.71) in the javelin, respectively.

The Green Terror returns to action at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet on May 10.
