Nwanegwo finishes second in 200
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Lechi Nwanegwo finished second in the 200 to lead McDaniel at the McDaniel Twilight Meet in women's outdoor track and field on Wednesday.
For Nwanegwo, it was one of three Centennial Conference (CC)-qualifying standards she hit for the Green Terror. She finished the 200 in a time of 27.40 seconds. She was also sixth in the 100 with a time of 13.40 seconds and fourth in the long jump with a leap of 4.89 meters.
Claire Lawson (McMinnville, Ore./McMinnville) added a second-place showing in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.86 seconds. She was also third in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:06.53.
In the 400 hurdles, Lawson finished just 0.07 seconds behind her teammate Jasmine McCormick (Antioch, Calif./Holy Name), whose time of 1:06.46 was good enough for second. McCormick was also fourth in the 100 (13.33 seconds) and seventh in the shot put (10.00 meters). All of the marks hit the necessary conference standard.
Danielle Fatzinger (North Catasauqua, Pa./Catasauqua) added a pair of qualifying marks in field events, clearing 2.30 meters in the pole vault to finish fourth. She was also 13th in the discus with a throw of 83-4.
Chloe Allen-Gorman (Portland, Ore./Lincoln) rounded out qualifiers, finishing eighth in the 400 with a time of 1:05.64.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Penn Relays on Thursday.
