Byro finishes third in triple

BALTIMORE, Md. – Shantae Byro (Baltimore, Md./Northwestern) finished third in the triple jump to lead McDaniel at the Hopkins Invitational in season-opening women's outdoor track and field action on Friday.

Scoring:

  • The Green Terror finished 11th with six points. Johns Hopkins won the 15-team invitational with 197 points.

Making a Point: The following athletes earned points at the meet:

  • Shantae Byro: triple jump, finishing third with a  mark of 10.40 meters.

Standard Bearer: The following athletes hit Centennial Conference-qualifying marks at the meet:

  • Shantae Byro: triple jump, finishing third with a mark of 10.40 meters.
  • Yusrah Adebayo (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch: 100 hurdles, finishing 12th with a time of 17.29 seconds.
  • Samantha Merkel (Baltimore, Md./Winters Mill): 3000 steeplechase, finishing 14th with a time of 14:00.82
  • Simi Adeoye: discus, finishing 21st with a mark of 24.94 meters.
