McDaniel drops two on final day at Elizabethtown
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Taylor Herrgott (Derwood, Md./Magruder) recorded 25 kills in two matches to lead McDaniel in an 0-2 final day at the Elizabethtown Blue Jay Classic in non-conference volleyball action on Saturday.
The Green Terror (6-8) dropped a 3-1 decision to Neumann, falling
25-19, 26-28, 25-19, 25-20, before falling in the crossover match
against Widener, 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-21).
Against Neumann, Herrgott notched four of her five aces as part of
a rally late in the second set that drew McDaniel even at 25 en
route to the 28-26 victory. She also recorded nine kills in the
match.
Sara Hanlon (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson)
led the way with 10 kills while Kristen Nuckles (Suffolk,
Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) added 24
assists.
Kristie Fourcade (Ijamsville, Md./St. John at Prospect
Hall) and Jenna Filipone (Wayne,
Pa./Radnor) steadied the defense with 23 and 22 digs,
respectively.
Against Widener, Herrgott recorded 16 kills while Fourcade had 29
assists and 17 digs. Filipone and Katie Ferguson (Dover,
Pa./Northern York) had 10 digs apiece.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Susquehanna on
Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
