McDaniel drops two on second day of Green Terror Invitational
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Taylor Herrgott (Derwood, Md./Magruder) recorded 28 kills to earn a spot on the all-tournament team but McDaniel dropped both of its matches on the second day of the 27th Annual Green Terror Invitational in non-conference volleyball action on Saturday.
The Green Terror (9-13) dropped a five-set match to Gallaudet,
falling in the first two sets 25-23 and 25-21 before forcing the
deciding set with 25-19 and 25-20 victories, respectively. The
Bison took the fifth set, 15-7.
In its second match, McDaniel fell to tournament champions and No.
24 Salisbury, 3-0 (25-19, 25-9, 25-17).
Against Gallaudet (12-14), Herrgott led the way with 20 kills and
just one error in 40 attempts. Kristen Nuckless (Suffolk,
Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy), who joined Herrgott on the
all-tournament team, and Kristie Fourcade (Ijamsville,
Md./St. Johns at Prospect Hall) recorded 22 and 16
assists, respectively. Nuckles addd 12 digs and two service aces
while Fourcade tallied a team-high 20 digs.
Four other players reached double figures in the dig column.
Katie Ferguson (Dover, Pa./Northern York) and
Sara Hanlon (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson)
recorded 13 apiece while Lanni Reisinger (Lemoyne,
Pa./Cedar Cliff) and Jenna Filipone (Wayne,
Pa./Radnor) added 11 and 10, respectively. Herrgott and
Hanlon had four total blocks each.
Against the Sea Gulls (27-1), Herrgott led the attack with eight
kills while Fourcade and Nuckles tallied eight assists apiece.
Fourcade added 10 digs while Herrgott had five blocks.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Dickinson on Wednesday.
