GETTYSBURG, Pa. – On the night Gettysburg and McDaniel were taking part in the conference’s Digging for a Cure campaign to raise money for breast cancer awareness, the two teams combined for 174 digs led by 27 from Kristin Kotewicz to lead the Bullets to a 3-1 Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball victory on Wednesday.
The Green Terror (10-15, 3-4 CC) tallied 79 digs and had five
players reach double-digit digs, led by Kristie
Fourcade’s (Ijamsville, Md./St. Johns at Prospect
Hall) 19. Gettysburg (14-10, 6-1 CC) recorded 95 digs to
remain in a three-way tie for the top spot in the conference with a
6-1 record and three matches to play.
The Bullets took the first set 25-23 before McDaniel evened the
match with a 25-22 victory in the second set. Gettysburg won the
final two, 25-19 and 25-20, respectively.
Taylor Herrgott (Derwood, Md./Magruder) led the
Green Terror attack with 18 kills while Sara Hanlon
(Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) also reached double
figures with 12.
Fourcade and Kristin Nuckles (Suffolk,
Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) each recorded 18 assists.
Nuckles and Katie Ferguson (Dover, Pa./Northern
York) added 16 digs apiece while Jenna Filipone
(Wayne, Pa./Radnor) and Lanni Reisinger (Lemoyne,
Pa./Cedar Cliff) added 12 and 11,
respectively.
Kate Yoder and Kristina Mercier
led the Bullet attack with 16 and 12 kills, respectively.
Amanda Krampf added 32 assists and 16 digs.
Rebecca Rubenstein notched three of
Gettysburg’s eight service aces.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Washington (Md.) on
Saturday. Match time is 1 p.m.
