Green Terror falls to Lebanon Valley in four before sweeping Rutgers-Camden
YORK, Pa. - Taylor Herrgott (Derwood, Md./Magruder) notched 34 kills to lead McDaniel to a split on the first day of the Spartan Best Western Wingate Invitational hosted by York (Pa.) in non-conference volleyball action on Friday.
The Green Terror (8-6) dropped its first match of the day to Lebanon Valley (11-1) by a 3-1 score, dropping the first two sets 25-20 and 25-18, respectively, before taking the third set, 25-17. The Flying Dutchwomen closed out the match with a 25-18 win.
In its second match of the day, McDaniel swept Rutgers-Camden (5-6), winning 25-5, 25-19, 25-12.
Against Lebanon Valley, Herrgott notched 18 kills while Sara Hanlon (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) tallied 10 kills and five blocks.
Anne McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) added eight kills and 10 digs while freshman Jackie Hawkins (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) chipped in with career highs of 39 assists and 23 digs.
Katie Ferguson (Dover, Pa./Northern York) added 21 digs.
In the second match of the night, Herrgott recorded 16 kills while Hanlon added seven. Hawkin tallied 18 assists and seven digs.
Ferguson registered team highs of three aces and nine digs.
The Green Terror returns to action on the second day of the Spartan Best Western Wingate Invitational hosted by York (Pa.) on Saturday. McDaniel takes on Moravian at 10 a.m. and Rowan at 12 p.m.
