Volleyball to participate in Digging for a Cure
WESTMINSTER, Md. - For the fourth consecutive season, McDaniel will join the 10 other Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball teams and participate in Digging for a Cure during the month of October.
A program that began in the conference in 2006, Digging for a Cure raises money for breast cancer research. Each CC team has one designated match during the month in which fans can pledge money for every dig recorded by the team with all of the money raised going to cancer research.
During the first three seasons, the 11 conference teams have raised more than $26,000.
In 2009, the coaches and players across the CC will be raising money for Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC). Based out of Haverford, Pa., LBBC assists women at all stages of diagnosis, treatment and recovery. Its mission includes offering specialized programs and services for the newly diagnosed, young women, women with advanced breast cancer, women at high risk for developing the disease and African-American and Latina women. It also offers programs for caregivers and healthcare professionals to help them better meet the needs of women affected by breast cancer.
The Green Terror will be using its October 21 match at Gettysburg to raise money for the cause.
