Owls notch first-ever win over Green Terror
BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Katie Merrill recorded nine kills and 15 digs to lead Bryn Mawr to a 3-0 win over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Saturday.
The Owls (4-6, 1-1 CC) took the first set 28-26 before completing their first-ever win in 17 tries over the Green Terror (1-11, 1-1 CC) with wins of 25-21 and 25-22.
Kelly Toms (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) recorded 10 kills to lead McDaniel. Annie McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) led the defense with 17 digs while Sarah Byron (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) and Katie Ferguson (Dover, Pa./Northern York) had 11 each.
Mikecia Witherspoon added nine kills for Bryn Mawr.
Jackie Hawkins (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) added 29 assists for the Green Terror. McShea contributed nine kills and two aces while Kristen Nuckles (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) had eight kills. Toms added three aces.
McDaniel returns to action at Susquehanna on Tuesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
