Maultsby leads attack with nine kills

WESMINSTER, Md. – Bryn Mawr used both solid offense and defense to sweep McDaniel 3-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Saturday.

Jaina Maultsby (Baltimore, Md./Western) led the attack for the Green Terror (0-11, 0-3 CC) with nine kills while Annie McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) contributed team highs of 12 assists and seven digs.

Katie Merrill led the Owls (6-7, 2-0 CC) to a 2-0 mark for the first time in CC history with 16 kills while Danielle Preziuso steadied the defensive effort with 10 digs.

McDaniel jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first set before a pair of Hannah Rosebrock kills keyed a 6-0 run to take a 7-3 lead en route to a 25-13 victory. Rosebrock finished with 11 kills in the match.

Trailing 16-15 on a Hannah Krobock (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) kill, Rosebrock and Mikecia Witherspoon combined for three straight kills to key a 10-4 finish to the second set and 25-20 win for Bryn Mawr.

Both of Preziuso's aces helped key an 8-1 start to the third set en route to a 25-11 victory.

Melissa Weldon (Broomall, Pa./Country Day School of the Sacred Heart) added four kills and five digs for McDaniel. Krobock finished with three kills and five digs.

The Green Terror returns to action at Goucher on Tuesday. Match time is 1 p.m.
