Sillaman leads defense with 13 digs

TOWSON, Md. – In a three-set match that featured 117 combined digs, Goucher took three close sets to sweep McDaniel in non-conference volleyball action on Tuesday.

Brooke Sillaman (Crofton, Md./Arundel) led four players for the Green Terror (0-12) in double-digits digs with 13. Melissa Weldon (Broomall, Pa./Country Day School of the Sacred Heart), Annie McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) and Hannah Krobock (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) each added 11.

Ashley Fan led the Gophers (5-9) on defense with 22 digs while Kristen Courage added 15.

In a match that featured each set getting a point closer, Goucher took the first set 25-19 before winning set No. 2, 25-20. The Gophers rounded out the match with a 25-21 victory in the third set.

McShea added 10 assists to the McDaniel attack while Sarah Marshall (Lexington, Mass./Gann Academy) added nine. Jaina Maultsby (Baltimore, Md./Western) had a team-best seven kills to go with three total blocks.

Krobock chipped in three aces and three block assists.

Megan Chalk led Goucher's attack with 11 kills.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Gallaudet on Thursday. Match time is 7 p.m.
