McShea records five kills, assists and digs
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Gallaudet jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first set and carried that momentum to a 3-0 win over McDaniel in non-conference volleyball action on Thursday.
Annie McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) led the Green Terror (0-13) with five kills, five assists and five digs.
Kali Frowick led the attack for the Bison (10-5) with 12 kills. Sarah Tubert contributed 27 assists and a team high-matching six aces. Mari Klassen also had six aces for Gallaudet, which recorded 20 as a team.
Two of Klassen's aces came during the 9-0 run to start the first set, which ended 25-7.
Knotted at 3-all in the second set, Jessica Israel knocked down a kill to put the Bison on top for good.
Back-to-back Tubert aces made it a 16-7 lead en route to a 25-14 victory.
Ann Whited and Jaina Maultsby (Baltimore, Md./Western) exchanged kills to start set No. 3 before an Frowick kill started a 5-0 run to give Gallaudet a 6-1 lead en route to a 25-10 win.
Maultsby added four kills for McDaniel. Sarah Marshall (Lexington, Mass./Gann Academy) matched McShea with five assists.
Melissa Weldon (Broomall, Pa./Country Day School of the Sacred Heart) steadied the Green Terror defense with seven digs.
Mari Klassen led the Bison defense with eight digs.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Ursinus on Saturday. Match time is 1 p.m.
