Krobock leads defense with seven digs

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Gettysburg scored 13 straight points in the first set, keying a 3-0 Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball victory over McDaniel on Wednesday.

Hannah Krobock (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) steadied the defense for the Green Terror (0-22, 0-7 CC) with seven digs. Melissa Weldon (Broomall, Pa./Country Day School of the Sacred Heart) and Lauren Lewis (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) added six digs each while Arielle Stockbridge (Malvern, Pa.) chipped in five.

Cydney Bracken registered 10 kills to lead the Bullets (17-8, 7-0 CC), who kept pace for the top spot in the conference standings with the win. Katie Wilson added 10 digs in two sets played.

Tied at 1-all in the first set, Sarah Gorski served 13 straight points, including six of her match-high eight aces to key a 25-8 victory.

In the second set, a Lewis ace gave McDaniel a 3-2 lead before four straight points turned the one-point lead into a three-point deficit.

The Green Terror clawed within two twice in the next five points but back-to-back Jamie Huffman aces keyed a 5-0 run that made it a 15-7 set en route to a 25-14 victory.

Three straight Bracken kills helped turned a 2-1 deficit into a 13-5 lead en route to a 25-9 win for the sweep.

Sarah Marshall (Lexington, Mass./Gann Academy) added three kills and four digs for the Green Terror. Annie McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) and Lewis had two aces each.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Gettysburg on Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
