COLLEGEVILLE and CHEYNEY, Pa. – Kloe Martin (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) recorded double-digit digs, leading McDaniel to a 1-1 road trip at two separate locations on Saturday.
Opening with a Centennial Conference (CC) match at Ursinus, the Green Terror (5-11, 0-4 CC) dropped a 3-1 decision before traveling to Cheyney, where the squad recorded a 3-0 victory in the non-conference match against the Division II foe.
Against the Bears (6-9, 2-2 CC), Martin recorded 16 kills and 11 digs before tallying five kills and 14 digs against the Wolves (0-12) later in the day.
Ursinus took a tight first set 26-24 before McDaniel responded with a 25-23 win in Set No. 2. The third set was also decided by two points with the Bears prevailing, 25-23. Ursinus closed out the match with a 25-21 win.
Annie McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) added 13 kills, three aces, three digs and three total blocks.
Julia Wainwright (Princeton Junction, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North) added 10 digs and two aces. Colette Kellen (Derwood, Md./Covenant Life) and Martin also had a pair of aces. Kellen chipped in 30 assists and six digs.
Against Cheyney, the Green Terror tallied nine of the final 10 points to take the opening set 25-18 before scoring the final nine in the second set to win, 25-14. In the final set, Kellen served 11 straight points to turn a 12-11 advantage into a 23-11 lead en route to a 25-14 victory.
McShea had three of her 13 kills during the match-clinching run.
Olivia Kunc (Chesterbrook, Pa./Conestoga) matched Martin with 14 digs to steady the defense.
Kellen added 10 assists, nine digs, five aces and two kills.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Dickinson on Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
