TOWSON, Md. – Annie McShea (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) recorded 14 kills for McDaniel on the first day of the 2012 Goucher Invitational in non-conference volleyball action on Friday.
The Green Terror (5-14) dropped a 3-0 decision to Stevenson to open the tournament. The Mustangs (21-2) took the first set 25-8 before completing the sweep 25-12 and 25-18, respectively.
In McDaniel's second match of the night, Lynchburg also recorded a 3-0 win. The Hornets (15-4) opened with a 25-11 victory before closing out the match, 25-12, 25-17.
In the first match, McShea led the Green Terror attack with eight kills. Colette Kellen (Derwood, Md./Covenant Life) added 16 assists whiel leading the defense with eight digs. Kloe Martin (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) added five kills and seven digs – both second on the team for the match.
Avery Gabbard led Stevenson with 11 kills and nine digs.
Later in the night, McShea once again led the attack with six kills and also steadied the defense with eight digs. Kellen chipped in 15 assists and seven digs to go with three kills. Martin added a team-best four aces to go with five digs and a pair of kills.
Rebecca Loftis led Lynchburg with nine kills while Molly Deacon added 13 digs.
McDaniel continues action at the Goucher Invitational on Saturday. The Green Terror takes on Bridgewater at 2 p.m. and the host Gophers at 4 p.m.
