Martin records 21 kills and 11 digs

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg and McDaniel alternated set wins with the hosts prevailing in the final set to capture a 3-2 Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball victory on Saturday.

Kloe Martin (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) led the Green Terror (19-6, 7-3 CC) with 21 kills and 11 digs. Based on other results around the conference and tiebreakers, McDaniel finished third in the conference standings and will face Muhlenberg in one of Saturday's semifinals at Franklin & Marshall.

Laura Bergin recorded 16 kills and 12 digs to pace the Bullets (14-15, 6-4 CC), who earned the fifth and final playoff spot with the win. Gettysburg will travel to Johns Hopkins for Wednesday's first-round match.

All details, including match times, will be determined on Monday's pre-championship conference call.

The Bullets took the opening set 25-17 before the Green Terror rallied to even the match at 1-all with a 25-19 victory. Gettysburg countered with a 25-16 win in the third set before McDaniel forced the deciding set by the same margin. The Bullets ultimately prevailed in the final set, 15-11.

Madeline Rose (Soddy Daisy, Tenn./Baylor High) joined Martin in double-figure kills with 11 while Colette Kellen (Derwood, Md./Covenant Life) steadied the defense with 12 digs. Genna Weger (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) added 10 digs.

Lexi Corral (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) added six kills and three block while Rose had two aces and two blocks.

Maddie Moyer (Brookeville, Md./Sherwood) added 22 assists and three aces while Kellen had 20 assists and one ace.

Courtney Morrow added 13 kills for Gettysburg while Sarah Gorski and Courtney Cyr had 11 each.
