Paci records eight kills in sweep

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – McDaniel won the first set 25-6 to key a sweep of Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Friday.

Isabel Paci (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) led the Green Terror (15-2, 4-1 CC) with eight kills and hit .375 on the night. Teryn Rath (Grass Valley, Calif./Bear River) and Allie Lugar (Wilmington, Del./Dupont) added seven kills each and hit .875 and .636, respectively. The trio combined for just two attacking errors in 35 attempts.

Sienna Burnett paced the Owls (1-14, 0-5 CC) with five kills.

A Taylor Bauman (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) ace keyed a 6-1 start to the first set. Keyed by three kills from Lugar, McDaniel scored eight straight points to open up a 15-3 lead en route to a 25-6 win.

Gayle Edelstein (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) served three straight aces to start the second set.

Tied at 13-all midway through the set, a Hayley Mills (Bowie, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) kill and another Edelstein ace gave the Green Terror the lead for good.

Three Bauman aces keyed a 9-0 finish the set and 25-15 win.

McDaniel jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the final set and closed the set on a 12-2 run to close out the sweep, 25-12.

Edelstein chipped in 18 assists and six aces. Bauman added nine digs and seven aces. As a team, the Green Terror had 16 aces on the night.

McDaniel returns to action at home against No. 24 Johns Hopkins on Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
