Wilson finishes ninth at CC meet

Green Terror takes eighth at championship event

ELKRIDGE, Md. – Lindsay Wilson (Catonsville, Md./Seton Keough) finished ninth to earn second-team All-Centennial Conference (CC) honors and lead McDaniel to an eighth-place finish at the 2010 CC women's cross country championship hosted by Johns Hopkins at Belmont Conference Center on Saturday.

The Green Terror recorded 210 points as a team. Johns Hopkins successfully defended its title with 28 points. Dickinson finished second with 63 points while Haverford (104) and Swarthmore (107) rounded out the top four teams.

Wilson turned in the fourth fastest 6,000-meter time in program history with a time of 22:28 behind her own personal best of 22:22 and a pair of Jill Krebs times. Wilson finished a minute off the pace of race winner Cecilia Furlong (Johns Hopkins). Four Blue Jays and three Red Devils made up seven of the eight runners to finish ahead of Wilson.

Emily Peoples (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) and Missy Black (West Grove, Pa./Bishop Shahan) crossed a second apart, finishing 51st (24:39) and 52nd (24:40), respectively.

Becky Kaler (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) finished 69th in a time of 25:26 while Joy Chand (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) was 87th in a time of 26:30.

Laura Shinn (Weehawken, N.J./Pennington) and Jennifer Garnett (Los Altos, Calif./Homestead) rounded out McDaniel's top seven in 94th (27:16) and 95th (27:37), respectively.

The Green Terror returns to action at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional championship on Nov. 13.
