Peoples finishes eighth at Goucher

TOWSON, Md. – Emily Peoples (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) finished eighth overall to lead McDaniel to a fifth-place finish at the 2011 Goucher Cross Country Classic in women's cross country action on Saturday.

The Green Terror finished with 117 points. Goucher won the eight-team meet with 34 points.

Peoples completed the 6,000-meter course in a time of 26:29 to record her fourth top-10 finish of the season.

Becky Kaler (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) added a 14th-place showing, finishing in a time of 27:19.

Laura Shinn (Weehawken, N.J./Pennington) finished 22nd overall with a time of 28:14.

Amber Slater (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) was 39th (30:10) while Kristen Beil (Parkton, Md./Hereford) and Lauren Murray (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's County) were 43rd (30:37) and 44th (30:45), respectively.

Sarah Holbrook (Winchester, Va./John Handley) finished 47th with a time of 31:05.

McDaniel returns to action at the Centennial Conference Championship hosted by Dickinson on Oct. 29. The first race begins at 11 a.m.
