Kaler leads way in opener

BALTIMORE, Md. - Becky Kaler (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) finished 30th overall with a time of 21:09.93 to lead McDaniel to a fourth-place finish at the season-opening Baltimore Metro Meet in women's cross country action on Friday.

Kaler turned in the 15th-fastest time all-time at Oregon Ridge for the Green Terror, who finished with 119 points. Johns Hopkins won the meet with 17 points.

Freshman Claire Lawson (McMinnville, Ore./McMinnville) was 45th overall in a time of 22:08.90 while classmate Caroline Unger (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) was 52nd in a time of 22:47.00

Phoebe McHale (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) crossed 55th overall in a time of 22:57.21 while Avalon McOmber (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) rounded out McDaniel's top five in a time of 23:35.37, finishing 58th.

The Green Terror returns to action at its own home invitational on Saturday, Sept. 8. Action begins at 9:40 a.m.
