Kaler crosses fifth

YORK, Pa. – Becky Kaler (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) finished fifth to lead McDaniel to a seventh-place finish at the Coach Achtzehn Classic hosted by York (Pa.) in women's cross country action on Saturday.

The Green Terror finished with 165 points. Goucher won the 11-team meet with 70 points.

Kaler finished the squad's first 6K race of the season in a time of 24:54.02 to record her fourth top-five finish of the season at notch the program's best 6,000-meter time on the John Rudy Park course.

Avalon McOmber (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) finished 38th overall with a time of 27:00.03 while Amber Slater (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) crossed 45th (27:47.68).

Phoebe McHale (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) finished 54th (28:28.30) while Lauren Murray (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's County) was two spots behind her in 56th with a time of 28:57.23.

Lucy Benson (Wilmington, Del./Sanford) followed Murray across the line with a time of 29:02.94.

McDaniel returns to action at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 28. Action begins at 10 a.m.
