Knadler leads conference winter academic honors

LANCASTER, Pa. – Syd Knadler (Crowley Lake, Calif./Mammoth), a senior on the McDaniel women's swimming team, was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Scholar-Athlete of the Year in her sport.

Knadler was one of 24 Green Terror winter student-athletes named to the CC Winter Academic Honor Roll.

Knadler, an exercise science major, posted a 3.777 cumulative grade-point average through the end of the fall semester. That was the highest GPA among juniors and seniors on the all-conference team.

Knadler was a first-team All-CC selection after winning the 50 free for the second straight year. She posted a program-record time of 24.03 to be the top seed after the prelims. She won by 0.21 seconds in the finals, turning in a time of 24.13 seconds.

Women's basketball junior Jasmine Smith (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) and women's indoor track and field senior Nicole Hill (Bowie, Md./Bowie) joined Knadler on the Academic All-Centennial team. Smith earned honorable mention all-conference honors while Hill was a second-team all-conference selection. The Academic All-Centennial team recognizes student-athletes who receive both all-conference and Academic Honor Roll honors.

The trio was part of the 24 named to the Academic Honor Roll. To be nominated for the honor roll, a student-athlete must be of sophomore standing or higher and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.40. The honored Green Terror student-athletes are:

Sophomore Isaac Ray (Fredericksburg, Pa./Northern Lebanon).

In all, 372 student-athletes from the CC's 11 member institutions were named to the 2017 Winter Academic Honor Roll and 60 were tabbed Academic All-Centennial.
