Browning joins the Green Terror staff as offensive coordinator in 2019 with nearly four decades of coaching experience.
Browning got his start in coaching as a graduate assistant at New Mexico State in 1982 before stops at Idaho State (1983) and Ohio State (1984-85). In 1986, he arrived at Edinboro as an assistant coach before taking over as offensive coordinator in 2001. After two decades on staff, he was tabbed head coach in 2006.
In 10 years at the helm, Browning compiled a 57-54 record at the Division II program, the second most victories in program history. The Scots finished in the final AFCA top 25 poll in 2008 and 2009 and qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs in 2009.
A native of Loudonville, Ohio, Browning began his tenure at Edinboro in 1986 as running backs coach. He also served as defensive backs coach, offensive line coach and offensive coordinator before taking over the reins of the program.
Following his tenure with the Scots, he spent the last three seasons as a defensive analyst at Iowa State.
Browning, who earned his bachelor’s degree at Ohio State in 1981, began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Worthington High School and Dayton-Fairview High School in Ohio from 1979-81.
He earned his master’s degree from New Mexico State in 1983.
Brown and his wife, Lynn, have two children, Andrew and Katelyn.
