Kauffman records hat trick

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – McDaniel built a 3-0 halftime lead en route to a 4-0 victory over Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Saturday.

Jayde Kauffman (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley) recorded a natural hat trick to lead the Green Terror (4-4, 1-2 CC) to its first conference win of the season.

Faith Westdrop made 15 saves for the Owls (4-3, 0-2 CC) in goal.

Just 2:28 into the game, Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) hit Kauffman for a 1-0 lead.

Nearly 14 minutes later it was Danielle DeColli (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) who found the freshman, doubling the advantage.

Kauffman finished an unassisted tally at the 20:51 mark for a 3-0 lead.

In the 56th minute, Katie Corson (Ocean View, N.J./Ocean City) hit Sara Reynolds (York, Pa./Central York) to set the final margin.

Caila White (Delmar, Md./Delmar) made two saves in goal while Messersmith added a pair of defensive saves and 14 shots to her assist.

McDaniel finished with a 27-6 advantage in shots.

McDaniel returns to action at Ursinus on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
