MACUNGIE, Pa. – Brandon Vance (Worcester, Pa./Methacton) fired a three-day score of 221 to finish second and lead McDaniel to a second-place finish at the Centennial Conference (CC) men's golf championship on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The Green Terror finished with a 54-hole score of 907, posting a round of 299 on Friday and 295 on Saturday before carding a 313 on Sunday when the weather turned much cooler. Franklin & Marshall won the title behind a round of 286 on Friday, finishing with a score of 890 at Brookside Country Club.
By virtue of his second-place showing, Vance earned all-conference honors. He posted matching scores of 74 over the first two rounds before registering a round of 73 on Sunday – tied for the lowest round of the final day.
Collin MacDonald (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) finished sixth in the field and was the top scoring rookie to claim Rookie of the Year honors in the conference. It marked the second straight season a Green Terror golfer earned the distinction. MacDonald finished with a score of 227, highlighted by a round of 72 on Saturday. He also registered a score of 74 on Friday and rounded out the weekend with an 81 on Sunday.
Kevin Keane (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and Shawn MacBurnie (Beverly, Mass./St. Mary's Lynn) were tied for 10th with a 54-hole score of 230. Keane registered a low round of 73 on the first day before posting 77 on Saturday. MacBurnie's low round came on the second day with a 72 after posted a 78 on Friday. The duo both posted rounds of 80 on Sunday.
Christian Garruppo (Hilton Head, S.C./Hilton Head Prep) rounded out the McDaniel golfers, finishing 23rd with a score of 238 (78-80-80).
