Kron, McFall take set

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Washington (Md.) swept doubles play en route to a 9-0 win over McDaniel in the Centennial Conference (CC) men's tennis opener for both teams on Saturday.

Brian Kron (Upperco, Md./North Carroll) led the Green Terror (3-2, 0-1 CC), taking a set at No. 1 singles. Seth McFall (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) also took a set victory at second singles.

Joel Novick led the Shoremen (3-3, 1-0 CC) with a 6-1, 6-1 win at fourth singles.

After Vishnu Rajes took the first set 7-5 at first singels, Kron bounced back to force a third-set super tiebreaker with a 6-1 victory. Rajes prevailed 10-6 in the tiebreaker.

McFall took the first set at No. 2 singles 6-3 before Marc Cywinski forced the third set with a 7-5 win and prevailed in the tiebreaker set, 10-5.

Cywinski and Rajes teamed for an 8-2 win at first singles to key the 3-0 start to the match.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Shenandoah on Thursday. Match time is 4 p.m.
