Green Terror finishes in top three eight times at F&M

LANCASTER, Pa. - Rob Kelvey (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and James Ways (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) won their respective events to lead McDaniel at the Coach I Invitational hosted by Franklin & Marshall in men's indoor track and field action on Saturday.

Kelvey crossed first in the 3,000 (9:05.55) while Ways was victorious in the 400 (52.71) to lead eight top-three finishes for the Green Terror at the non-scoring event.

Kelvey added a second-place finish in the mile with a time of 4:45.10.

Kevin Bowman (Westminster, Md./Brunswick) crossed third in the 3,000 with a Centennial Conference-qualifying time of 9:22.53.

C.J. Naper (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll) was third in the 800 with a time of 2:02.93.

Ken Polk (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) was third in the triple jump to lead McDaniel in the field events with a jump of 11.50 meters.

The 4x800-meter relay finished second (8:38.78) while the 4x400-meter relay was third (3:51.68).

Steve Weatherhold (Catasauqua, Pa./Catasauqua) was fourth in the shot put with a hurl of 11.75 meters in his debut.

Jake Nichols (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) was fourth in the 55 hurdles with a time of 8.83 seconds.

Ways added a fourth-place finish in the 55 (6.97 seconds) while Polk added a sixth-place finish in the long jump (5.35 meters).

The Green Terror returns to action at the Susquehanna Invitational on Feb. 13.
