HAVERFORD, Pa. – Keegan Duesterhaus (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg Day) anchored the 4x800-meter relay to an eighth-place finish at the 2014 Centennial Conference men's indoor track and field championship hosted by Haverford on Saturday and Sunday.
As a team, the Green Terror scored one point to finish ninth. Johns Hopkins won the team crown easily outdistancing Haverford, 204-138.
Duesterhaus ran down Ursinus over the final 100 meters to give the quartet an eighth-place finish with a time of 8:32.34. Chris Jones (Centreville, Va./Centreville), Colin LaPenta (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) and Jim Heilman (Lutherville, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) joined Duesterhaus on the relay.
Duesterhaus, LaPenta and Heilman also joined Calvin Ball (Westminster, Md./Westminster) to run the distance medley relay earlier in the day, finishing ninth with a time of 11:43.68.
Individually, Jones was 11th in the 800 with a time of 2:04.52 while Heilman was 21st in the mile with a time of 4:46.64.
Alex Murchison (Edgewood, Md./St. John's Prep) led a quintet a throwers in the shot put, finishing 10th with a throw of 11.69 meters and missing out on the finals by one place.
Luis Miramontes (San Jose, Calif./San Jose) was 12th (11.44 meters) while C.J. Kaszuba (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional was 15th (11.37). Connor Heavner (Frederick, Md./Urbana) and Brandon Creyer (Blanton, Pa./Fleetwood Area) rounded out the group in 18th (10.87) and 19th (10.72) places, respectively.
Loi Nguyen (Crofton, Md./South River) was the only Green Terror competitor who competed on Saturday, finishing 13th in the triple jump with a jump of 11.65 meters.
The Green Terror opens the outdoor season at the Battleground Relays hosted by Mary Washington on Mar. 21-22.
