WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel pounded out 25 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Swarthmore in Centennial Conference (CC) softball action on Sunday.

Caroline Brehm (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) did her work in the circle for the Green Terror (13-9, 5-3 CC), fanning 18 batters while allowing just six hits. McDaniel took both games by identical, five-inning 8-0 scores.

Rachel Sidney (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) led the offensive attack with five total hits.

Six different players had one hit each for the Garnet (7-13, 0-6 CC), who left 10 runners on base in the twinbill.

The Green Terror had all of its offense in the opener come in the bottom of the third inning.

Sidney led off with a single through the right side before moving to second on a sacrifice.

Stefanie Maring (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) followed with a double to the gap in left-center to score Sidney for a 1-0 lead.

Jackie Liebowitz (Bellerose, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cardozo) followed with a double of her own to put runner at second and third.

Lauren Stricker (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) put a ball down the third-base line that hit off the third baseman's glove in fair territory for an infield single that loaded the bases.

Emily Sneeringer (Hanover, Pa./South Western) jacked a 0-1 pitch on a line over the fence in right-center for a grand slam and 5-0 lead.

Olivia Kipe (Manchester, Md./Manchester) greeted a new pitcher with a line-drive single to center.

Caitlin Justice (Stuart, Fla./Jensen Beach) followed Kipe with her first career home run, clearing the left-field fence for a 7-0 advantage.

Sidney notched her second hit of the inning – a double to center – before taking third on a wild pitch and scoring on an Amy Baumgardner (Hanover, Pa./South Western) rocket back up the middle.

Sidney, Maring and Kipe all had two hits in the opener.

In game two, Sneeringer, Sam Stitely (Westminster, Md./North Carroll) and Stacey Armacost (Glenville, Pa./South Western) all drew walks to load the bases in the bottom of the second.

McDaniel put the next ball in play to second base but, on the throw home, the catcher did not stop on the plate for the force out, allowing Sneeringer to score for a 1-0 lead.

Maring led off the home third with a single to right before a walk to Liebowitz and a two-out bloop hit by Stitely loaded the bases once again.

Aramacost followed with a fly ball to shallow left field and a collision allowed Maring to score for a 2-0 lead.

With one out in the bottom of the fifth, Sneeringer doubled off the fence in left field before a Stitely single put runners at the corners.

Armacost followed with a single to the gap in right-center to score Sneeringer.

A Jamie Weisser (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) double to the fence in right-center cleared the bases for a 5-0 lead.

Laura Mertz (Gillette, N.J./Watchung Hills) poked a ball through the left side to put runners at the corners before stealing second.

A Sidney RBI single made it a 6-0 game before Ally Galati (Milford, Pa./Cornwall Central) singled to left to score Mertz and push the lead to 7-0.

After a fielder's choice kept it first and second with two outs, Liebowitz dropped a ball into left field on a 3-2 count to score Galati from second with the winning run.

Sidney had three hits in the nightcap while Stitely and Armacost had two apiece.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Coppin State on Wednesday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 3 p.m.
