COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – For the second straight day, McDaniel allowed just one run to record a Centennial Conference (CC) softball doubleheader sweep, taking two games at Ursinus on Saturday.

The Green Terror (18-10, 9-3 CC) took the opener 5-1 before tallying a 5-0 win in game two to run its conference winning streak to seven straight games.

Stephanie Maring (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) led McDaniel offensive with five hits and five RBIs while Rachel Sidney (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) added five hits and four runs scored in the twinbill.

Caroline Brehm (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) fanned 28 batters, picking up the wins in both ends of the doubleheader.

Delia Mercurio notched five hits to lead the Bears (7-15, 2-8 CC), who were limited to just 10 on the day.

In game one, Sidney led off with a single before Ally Galati (Milford, Pa./Cornwall Central) reached on an error.

Maring followed with a double to right field to score both runners before a two-out Emily Sneeringer (Hanover, Pa./South Western) double plated Maring for a 3-0 lead.

A two-out walk to Sidney and a stolen base followed by an error to allow Galati to reach scored Sidney for a 4-0 lead.

Maring followed with a single to push the lead to 5-0.

Back-to-back one-out walks to Shelby Edelson and Deanna Madison coupled with a Mercurio two-out single broke up the shutout in the bottom of the seventh.

Sidney went 3-for-3 in game one while Maring, Sneeringer and Stacey Armacost (Glenville, Pa./South Western) each had two hits. Brehm fanned 12 in the opener.

In the nightcap, Sidney once again led off with a single before stealing second. After taking third on a groundout, she scored on a Maring single for a 1-0 lead.

Taylor Fletcher (Linden, Va./Fauquier) doubled in Lauren Stricker (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll), who walked one batter earlier, to double the advantage with two outs in the top of the fourth.

Sneeringer singled to lead off the sixth inning before giving way to pinch-runner Megan Moore (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland Regional).

Two batters later, Fletcher blasted a home run to right field to push the lead to 4-0.

Singles from Sidney and Maring around a hit batter made it a 5-0 game with two outs in the frame.

Maring notched three hits while Sidney and Fletcher had two each in game two. Brehm fanned 16.

McDaniel returns to action at York (Pa.) on Tuesday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 3 p.m.
