YORK, Pa. – McDaniel recorded 11 hits in game two to forge a doubleheader split at York (Pa.) in non- conference softball action on Thursday.

The Green Terror (24-12) dropped a 5-4 decision to the Spartans (14-25) in game one before turning the tables and winning the nightcap, 6-0.

Caroline Brehm (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) worked the final 1 2/3 innings of the opener, recording three strikeouts to notch her 1,000th career strikeout, catching York looking to lead off the sixth inning. After a 13-strikeout performance in the game-two shutout, Brehm finished the day with 1,013 strikeouts for her career. Just the second Centennial Conference pitcher to reach the millennium mark for a career, she will enter Saturday's regular-season finale at Washington (Md.) needing just 29 to tie Lauren Davis' (Ursinus) conference record of 1,042.

Stephanie Maring (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) led the McDaniel offense with three hits on the day, adding a pair of RBIs.

In the fourth inning of game two, Emily Sneeringer (Hanover, Pa./South Western) reached on a one-out double to the fence in right-center before Laura Mertz (Gillette, N.J./Watchung Hills) followed with a single into right field before Rachel Sidney (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) drew a walk.

After Roxana Aviles (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) entered as a pinch-runner at third bases and a pitching change, Amy Baumgardner (Hanover, Pa./South Western) walked to force in Aviles for a 1-0 lead.

A two-out single from Maring plated Mertz and Sidney for a 3-0 advantage.

Jackie Liebowitz (Bellerose, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cardozo) led off the top of the seventh with a single up the middle before giving way to pinch-runner Megan Moore (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland Regional).

A Brittany Powers (Vienna, Va./James Madison reached on an infield single before Megan Liebknecht (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) singled into shallow left field to load the bases with one out.

A Mertz two-run double to the gap scored Moore and Powers before a Sidney sacrifice fly set the final margin.

Maring, Sneeringer and Mertz each had two hits in game two.

Trailing 4-3 in the opener, Mackenzie Ewell led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a single before pinch-runner Morgan Ober took second bases on a groundout.

A Payton Hill single put runners at the corners before she was also lifted for a pinch runner.

A wild pitch allowed Ober to score before an Ashley Chenoweth single scored Annie Hartman for the 5-4 lead.

The Spartans played small ball after a Katie Maloney leadoff double in the first inning. A sacrifice bunt moved her to third before she scored on a sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead.

A two-out Caitlin Justice (Stuart, Fla./Jensen Beach) home run over the left-center fence knotted the game in the top of the second.

Chenoweth led off the second with a single before moving to second on a sacrifice and scoring on an Alyssa Molino single up the middle.

After a wild pitch moved Molino to second, Maloney singled her home for a 3-1 lead.

Sidney led off the third with a triple before scoring on a Lauren Stricker (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) one-out double to the gap.

Maring followed with a single to put runners at the corners before a Liebowitz doubled scored both runners for a 4-3 lead.

Sidney had a pair of hits in game one.

The first game of Saturday's doubleheader at Washington starts at 1 p.m.
