WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel gradually built a 14-point first-half lead before holding off a second-half rally from Muhlenberg to notch a 52-45 Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball victory on Wednesday.

Codi McMaster (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) matched her career high with 17 points to lead the Green Terror (8-3, 3-2 CC), who also got 13 points from Steph Perez (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East).

Erin Laney led the Mules (5-6, 2-3 CC) with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Leanna Tallamy added 13 points.

After Leann Lanza staked Muhlenberg to a 2-0 lead, McMaster hit her first 3-pointer of the season with 17:57 to play for a 3-2 lead.

Back-to-back Lanza layups gave the visitors a 6-3 edge before Perez canned a triple to tie the game.

A McMaster jumper and second Perez 3-pointer extended the lead to 11-6 with 9:56 showing.

An Emma Wingerd (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) layup capped a 10-0 run before Laney hit a layup to stop an 8-minute, 32-second cold spell.

Brittney Davis (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) quickly responded with a layup to start another 9-0 burst.

McMaster hit her second triple during the stretch.

A Tallamy layup and Nicole Pepe 3-pointer closed the deficit to 24-16 at the intermission before the Green Terror extended the lead back to 34-19 with 15:55 remaining in the second half.

Lindsey Nichols (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) hit a 3-pointer with 15:04 to play to make it a 37-22 game before Muhlenberg held McDaniel to just one McMaster free throw over the next 6 minutes, 44 seconds.

A Laney three-point play closed the deficit to 38-37 with 8:42 on the clock before Perez responded with a three-point play of her 22 seconds later.

The Green Terror added 10 of the game's next 12 points to push the lead back to double digits with 3:39 on the clock.

Clinging to a 45-39 lead, Allie Eader (Ijamsville, Md./Linganore) just beat the shot clock with a 3-pointer from the win to stretch the lead to nine before McMaster hit two free throws to stretch the lead to 11.
