Brownawell nets six goals in win

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel jumped out to a 4-1 lead just 7:15 into the game, defeating Rochester 15-10 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Sunday.

Emily Brownawell (Sparks, Md./Oldsfield) led the Green Terror (4-3) with six goals and one assist, including her 100th collegiate marker.

Jamison Seabury led the Yellow Jackets (0-3) with two goals and an assist.

After Brigid Regan gave Rochester a 1-0 lead just 1:20 into the game, Brownawell finished a feed from Megan Kotelchuck (Crofton, Md./Elizabeth Seton) to tie the game nearly a 80 seconds later.

Kotelcheck then found Annemarie Duerr (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) to give the hosts the lead for good with 24:24 on the clock.

Abby Blankenship (Urbana, Va./Christchurch) converted a free-position tally nearly a minute later before Brownawell hit Megan Quattrone (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) for a 4-1 lead at the 22:45 mark.

Katherine Woo and Hannah Spaan finished solo runs 55 seconds apart to close the deficit to 4-3.

After Lindsey Farrell (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) and Seabury traded unassisted tallies, Farrell started a three-goal run to stretch the lead to 8-5.

Brownawell tallied her 98th and 99th career goals in succession during the run before the teams traded tallies over the final 4:05 of the first half to make it a 10-6 game.

Olivia Geiger (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) converted a free-position shot nearly five seconds into the second half before Spaan and Seabury finished solo runs to close the deficit to 11-8 with 22:18 showing.

Brownawell drove down the middle of the field and finished high to become the 14th Green Terror player in program history with 100 career goals with 19:33 to play.

Duerr then found Brownawell just 45 seconds later for goal No. 101.

Maggie McKenna and Brownawell traded free-position goals nearly three minute apart before a Geiger free-position goal with 3:15 to play made it a 15-9 game.

Marina Kern finished a solo run to set the final margin with 1:33 to play.

Geiger added five draw controls to her two goals while Farrell contributed three goals, five draw controls and four caused turnovers. Quattrone also had four caused turnovers.

Elizabeth Collyer (Rock Hall, Md./Kent County) made 15 saves in goal for McDaniel.

The Green Terror returns to action in the Centennial Conference opener at home against Haverford on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
