O’Boyle finishes second at 133

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ryan O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./Central Catholic) finished second at 133 to lead McDaniel to an 11th-place finish at the Ursinus Fall Brawl in wrestling action on Saturday.

The Green Terror finished with 35 points with a contingent of mostly freshmen at a tournament that featured Division I and Division III teams. Ursinus won the 15-team event with 144 points.

O'Boyle, who entered as the sixth seed, opened his day with a 10-3 win over Franklin & Marshall's Scott Stevens before downing Navy's Brenden Campbell, 4-0. The Diplomats' Robert Ruiz prevailed over O'Boyle 7-5 in the title tilt.

Eddie Miller (Salisbury, Md./Wicomico) recorded three wins, including a pair by fall, at 125. The rookie opened with a 2-minute, 43-second pin before top-seeded Chris Donaldson (Ursinus) relegated Miller to the consolation bracket with a 26-second pin.

In the consolation bracket, Miller recorded a 5-2 win over Ursinus' Ryne Morrison and 1-minute, 55-second fall over the Bears' Robert D'Annunzio before bowing out 10-8 to second-seeded Joe DiCarlo (College of New Jersey).

Luke Yox (Westminster, Md./Liberty) went 2-2 as the No. 7 seed at 149. The freshman dropped a 6-4 decision to open his day before recording a 3-2 sudden-victory win and victory by medical forfeit.

Trey Mitchell (Lewes, Del./Caesar Rodney) recorded a pair of wins in the consolation bracket at 141 – both by fall. Mitchell downed Hunter's Emmanuel Grullon in 1:00 and Ursinus' McKinley Mohrman in 1:29 before his day ended with a first-period fall at the hands of fifth-seeded Joey Bonaduce (West Chester).

Tim Gainsborg (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) added a single win at 141, opening his consolation bracket action with a 5-2 win over Liberty's Kent Rasmussen.

Evan Deckers (Frostburg, Md./Mountain Ridge) opened his day at 157 with a 14-10 win over Stevens' Robert Fitzcharles.

Nick Cross (Centreville, Md./Queen Annes County), the seventh seed at 165, opened his day with a bye before recording a 5-minute, 30-second pin over Alfred's Josh Lord before falling by back-to-back first-period pins.

McDaniel returns to action at home against UMBC, Southern Virginia and West Virginia University Tech on Saturday. Action begins at 12 p.m.
