Camlin notches pair of falls

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Joe Camlin (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) went 3-0 with a pair of pins to lead McDaniel to a 1-2 day in a quad match at Wilkes in non-conference wrestling action on Saturday.

The Green Terror (7-7) dropped a 30-12 decision to No. 7 Wilkes before falling to Lycoming, 20-15. McDaniel capped the day with a 30-19 win over Trinity (Conn.).

In the Green Terror's win, Mike O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./North Reading), Trey Mitchell (Lewes, Del./Caesar Rodney) and Mason Goretsas (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) were awarded forfeits in three of the first four matches to help the squad open up a 21-0 lead.

Ryan O'Boyle (North Reading, Mass./Central Catholic) added an 8-2 decision at 133 during that opening run.

Logan Yox (Westminster, Md./Liberty) extended the lead to 24-0 at the midway point with a 7-0 win at 157.

Keyed by a Petros Hologitas 49-second pin at 197, the Bantams (6-12) put together four straight wins to close within 24-19 before Camlin sealed the win with a fall in 2:22 at heavyweight.

Against Wilkes, the Colonels (17-3) won the first four bouts to take a 16-0 lead. Jeff Peterson and Mark Hartenstine each won by technical fall. Peterson was victorious 16-0 in 6:45 at 141 while Hartenstine won 15-0 in 5:41 at 149.

Yox broke up the shutout with a 3-0 win at 157.

After a Nathan White second-period technical fall at 165, Nick Cross (Centreville, Md./Queen Annes County) notched a 4-minute, 54-second pin at 174 to close the deficit to 20-9.

An Eric Bach 6-1 win at 184 and Aaron Transue 1-minute, 43-second fall at 197 sealed the victory for Wilkes, however.

Camlin closed the match with a 7-0 win at heavyweight.

Mike O'Boyle and Ryan O'Boyle opened the match against Lycoming with back-to-back decisions. Mike won 7-2 at 125 before Ryan took a 6-2 decision at 133.

Caleb Willey notched a 10-2 decision at 141 to close the deficit to 6-4.

A Goretsas 7-2 win stretched the lead back to five before the Warriors (6-7) reeled off five straight wins for the victory.

Greg Wetzel led the way during the stretch with an 11-0 win at 165.

Camlin set the final margin with a pin in 5:39 at heavyweight.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Gettysburg on Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
