For Green Terror soccer players Allie and Jessie Titus, being teammates is nothing new.
The sisters had that opportunity when they played together at Gov. Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick, Maryland. However, as any athlete will tell you, adjusting to college life and collegiate athletics can be quite intimidating.
Fortunately for the Titus sisters, they still step onto the same field each day.
The family still resides in nearby Frederick but Allie and Jessie were born in Naples, Italy, where their parents worked on a U.S. government base. The family has also resided in Meridian, Mississippi and Ramstein, Germany before moving to Maryland in 2007.
Allie is in her junior season at McDaniel and – from the beginning – has made an impact on an already successful program. Now, as an upperclassman, she welcomed an incoming freshman class in August that included one familiar face – her sister Jessie.
And, the Titus sisters had nothing but positive things to say about the experience of playing together in college.
"It is an honor to have my sister by my side for the good and bad times," Allie stated. "I always know she is there for me, as I am for her. I am also glad that I can be that role model for her and help her through her first year here at McDaniel".
For Jessie, McDaniel was a school that would not have even been on the radar without Allie finding her way to Westminster.
She visited Allie on campus and got to know her future teammates before choosing McDaniel, which has had a positive impact on her and her adjustment to her first collegiate season and academic semester. For Jessie, it was a good opportunity to see what life is like at McDaniel.
"[Allie] helped me to know what to expect before actually getting here, especially with soccer," Jessie said.
With the family settled in Maryland and two daughters settled in at McDaniel, the Titus parents can now enjoy a short trip to Westminster for home games, and more importantly, to see their two daughters succeed together.
