WESTMINSTER, Md. – Taylor Bauman (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle), a senior on the McDaniel volleyball team, was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District II Division III volleyball first team presented by CoSIDA on Thursday.
Bauman earned her second nod to the team with a 4.0 GPA as of the end of the spring semester. Bauman was one of seven players selected to the first team. The biology major now advances to the national ballot with all of the first-team selections from the eight districts for the Academic All-America team, which will be released on Dec. 12.
She was a second-team Academic All-American in 2017.
A libero, Bauman finished the season with 532 digs for her second straight season of 500-plus digs. She set the program record for career digs with 1,975. She also added 36 aces this season.
A four-time all-conference selection that includes an honorable mention nod this seasons, she led the Green Terror (23-9, 7-3 CC) into the conference championship match and to the finals of the ECAC Division III tournament. She was also named honorable mention all-region by the AVCA.
She was named to the CC Academic Honor Roll each of the last two seasons. The captain has been named to the Dean's List in each of the previous six semesters and was tabbed to the McDaniel Green and Gold Honor Roll the last two years. In the College's Honors program, she is a member of Alpha Lamba Delta, Tri-Beta and Phi Beta Kappa.
The members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) select the All-District team. District II consists of all of the Division III colleges and universities in Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
To be nominated for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.3 or higher cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
